Waipoua Kauri Forest
We are less than 20 km from the Waipoua Kauri Forest, with its massive trees, including the biggest tree in New Zealand.
There are some very pleasant walks in the forest.

Hokianga Harbour
We are right on the Hokianga Harbour with its stunning sandhills.

From Auckland it is approx 4 hours travelling time to Omapere.

From the Bay of Islands it is approx 1 hour travelling time.

To Cape Reinga (the northernmost part of NZ) it is approx 4 hours travelling time.

Activities in the area include taking the water taxi from Opononi to the sandhills and sliding down the sandhills, walking, swimming, boating, fishing, or just relaxing in the peaceful surrounds.

McKenzie's Accommodation is clearly signposted on Pioneers Walk, Omapere.
If you are travelling from the Waipoua Kauri Forest, Pioneers Walk is the first road on the left almost at the bottom of a short steep hill as you approach Omapere.
If you are travelling from the Bay of Islands, go through Opononi and most of Omapere, and Pioneers Walk is on the right before you go up the hill out of Omapere.
